Auckland Architecture Week is a celebration of what Auckland is doing right and its ambitions for the future, and a conversation starter about what can be improved. It’s also an opportunity to hear architects explain what they do and from where they draw their inspiration.

Highlights include: a lecture by Mexican architect Enrique Norten of TEN Arquitectos; the Urbis exhibition Auckland Redefined, which will showcase images from five of the country’s top architectural photographers; the Architecture + Women awards night; and events around the Akepiro Street housing competition.

Architecture New Zealand magazine is hosting a free film night also, featuring Exhibition by British director Joanna Hogg at the Academy Cinema, Auckland Library, on 28 September 2014 at 6pm. Starring conceptual artist Liam Gillick and former The Slits guitarist Viv Albertine, the film explores the link between architectural space and personal relationship.
