Following the success at Wellington’s City Gallery, the Athfield Architects: People and Place exhibition makes its way to Auckland as part of Auckland Architecture Week.

Held at the George Fraser Gallery, the exhibition traces four decades of Ian Athfield’s works and the firm’s dynamic history, presenting a vivid sense of Athfield’s vision through early innovative house designs to major civic and urban-scale projects.

Curated by Julia Gatley, Senior Lecturer at the School of Architecture and Planning at The University of Auckland, the exhibition sits alongside her recently launched major publication Athfield Architects. Exhibition runs 16-27 October, 2012.

As part of Auckland Architecture Week, Athfield Architects will also present a public lecture on Saturday 27 October - First Floor, Old Government House, Corner of Princes Street and Waterloo Quadrant. Other public lectures include:

  • 2pm - Julia Gatley, talking about her recent book, Athfield Architects (AUP, 2012)
  • 3pm - Athfield Architects discussing recent and current projects
  • 4pm - Adjourn to the George Fraser Gallery for drinks, nibbles and the closing of the exhibition.
