Danish architects Johannes Molander Pedersen and Morten Rask Gregersen of Nord Architects are in Australia to begin their Droga Architect in Residence program.

Since establishing their practice in 2002, Pedersen and Gregersen have achieved wide acclaim for their work as practising architects, urbanists, academics, exhibitors and lecturers. Their award-winning projects include Centre for Health and Cancer and Kids City Daycare in Copenhagen, House of Natural Science in Bjerringbro, Denmark and Maritime Education Centre in Malmö, Sweden.

Their work is underpinned by an interest in how architecture can act to bring people together to find solutions to societal challenges and build stronger communities.

“Architecture has the ability to activate and combine knowledge from various professional fields and localities into something concrete and tangible,” said Pedersen. “[It] holds the potential to become a structured form of collaboration that engages users and citizens to innovate in the public realm.”

During their residency, between February and May, 2015, Nord Architects will supervise workshops with students at UTS in Sydney and present lectures in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. While the pair will be alternating their time in Australia, both architects will be here in late-March when they will present a public lecture together at the Sydney Opera House. Nord Architects will also report of their research by design project in residency at the end of April.

The Droga Architect in Residency program was launched in September 2013 and in 2014, the program hosts its first architect in residence, Barcelona-based architect and urban designer Carmen Fiol-Costa.

Johannes Molander Pedersen is a keynote speaker at the Health Care/Health Design conference in Melbourne, Australia on 18 March 2015.

Nord Architects will present a public lecture at the Sydney Opera House on 30 March 2015. Buy tickets here.
