Jasmax has announced the opening of its first Australian design studio, located in Sydney. A significant milestone for the practice, the new Sydney studio will be led by local architect Chris Rogers, who previously worked for renowned Edinburgh-based firm Richard Murphy Architects and TERROIR in Sydney, before establishing his own practice, NO MAD.

An award-winning designer with extensive experience in masterplanning, education and residential design, Chris will support Jasmax in seeking new opportunities within Australia whilst continuing to lead his existing projects.

The Sydney studio will be Jasmax’s fourth location, with three offices located in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington and Ōtautahi Christchurch. Having a physical presence in Australia is a timely reflection of the close ties between both countries, and the increasing opportunities for design businesses to work across jurisdictions. Located in the inner-city suburb of Chippendale, the new studio provides a base for Jasmax’s team members to work more seamlessly on both sides of the Tasman and enhances opportunities to strengthen connections with clients and project partners.

As a multi-disciplinary practice with expertise in architecture, interior design, urban design, landscape architecture and brand design, Jasmax will offer an integrated approach to projects in Australia.

“After meeting Chris, I knew he was the right choice to lead Jasmax’s Sydney studio. His energy and experience are complemented by outstanding design and communication skills. We are excited to see where this opportunity leads our business and are delighted to have found such a talented individual to help make this venture a success,” says CEO, Sjoerd Post.

“I am looking forward to observing how Te Tiriti o Waitangi is influencing design outcomes in Aotearoa New Zealand through a bicultural approach to design. There is a huge opportunity for our two nations to learn more about one another and leading Jasmax’s Sydney studio will make this a reality for myself and our design teams,” says Sydney Studio Lead, Chris Rogers.
