‘Whanau’, a 228m² family home designed by Jessop Architects has been chosen as a finalist in the Global Passive House Award 2014 to be announced in Aachen, Germany in April. The project is one of four finalists in the single-family home category.

Of the 121 projects submitted, 92 were judged to be eligible – 46 from within Germany and another 46 from 21 countries. The winners will be announced on Friday, 25 April.

Whanau forms part of the Coolhouse brand – which includes three other designs; Mini (54m²), Crib (72m²) and Box (114m²) – a collaboration between architect Darren Jessop, engineer Kirsten Dovey and master carpenter Ingo True.

Other categories in the awards include apartment buildings, educational buildings, office and special-use buildings, retrofits and passive region.
