Solar Electricity: Is it right for you?

The workshop will commence at 12:30pm and will be moderated by NZCEC Solutions Manager, Russell Judd. Russell teaches a course called “Understanding Energy” at Waiariki Institute of Technology. In his capacity at NZCEC, his role is to provide an unbiased and non sales-oriented understanding of options to Centre visitors. Joining Russell will be Jeroen Brand, CEO of Alphatron Pacific and Marc Simard of Powersmart Solar. The workshop will cover the following topics:
- Overview of solar hot water vs solar electricity. What is the science and how does it work,
- Off grid vs on grid,
- Financial and non financial considerations of solar,
- Hardware requirements,
- Strengths of solar power including comparisons to wind and hydro,
- Choosing the right solution,
- Lifecycle and performance,
- Future trends and development.
