After a successful return in 2015, Make Something is back this November at Allpress Studio, Auckland with yet another impressive line-up of creative collaborations.

In the creative industries it’s often rare that we get the opportunity to collaborate without the common interest of a client brief. And, even more rare, that our potential collaborators themselves come from an industry not often associated with the creative arts.

Make Something was established to create a forum that publicly celebrates working with the people we often creatively admire from afar. Annually we ask a handpicked group of graphic designers a simple question — given absolute free reign, who would you choose to work with and what would the results of this mash-up be? The only rule we ask them to abide by is that their chosen collaborator not be another graphic designer.

The line-up of creative collaborations for 2016 are:

  • Chris Jones (graphic designer, Switch) and Rinzi Ruiz (LA photographer)
  • Richard Unsworth (graphic designer, Unsworth Shepherd) and José Gutierrez (architect)
  • Janelle Rodrigues (graphic designer, Creature) and Jade Townsend (artist)
  • Heath Lowe (graphic designer, Special Group) and Darryl Ward (cinematographer)
  • Catherine Griffiths (graphic designer, Studio Catherine Griffiths) and Matt Galloway (artist, designer, writer)

Visit makesomething.co.nz for more information on the collaborators as well as a look back at past exhibitions.

Free to the public
Runs Thursday 24 and Friday 25 November, 9am—2pm and Saturday 26 November, 9am—12pm.
