One of New Zealand’s largest biennial sculpture exhibitions, New Zealand Sculpture OnShore 2014, is set to take place in November. The event, held above Narrow Neck Beach in Devonport on Auckland’s North Shore, is a fundraiser for Women’s Refuge NZ.

More than 100 artists have been selected by curator Rob Garrett to exhibit in 2014, and most have created works specifically for this exhibition. Joining such well-known names as Paul Dibble, Mary-Louise Brown and Lonnie Hutchinson, more than thirty per cent of this year’s sculptures will be from new artists.

The exhibition presents a fresh and exciting glimpse of New Zealand contemporary art practice, including three-dimensional art, sculpture, site-specific ephemeral installations, performance, light and sound works. All of the work is for sale, and in addition to large and major collectable pieces, you will find smaller works appropriate for gardens and homes, both in the outdoor exhibition and in the indoor Sculpture Gallery located in the Officer’s Mess building.
