The Asia Pacific Architecture Forum returns to Brisbane in 2017, taking place from 18 to 31 March.

The event – an initiative of Architecture Media and State Library of Queensland – builds on the success of the inaugural Forum, held in 2016.

The two-week-long Asia Pacific Architecture Forum includes a range of free and ticketed events including exhibitions, installations, symposia, lectures and workshops that will engage architecture and design professionals, educators, enthusiasts, children and young people.

Japanese architect and 2014 Pritzker Prize laureate Shigeru Ban will present a keynote address discussing his award-winning and humanitarian architecture at the one-day ArchitectureAP Symposium on Friday 24 March at State Library of Queensland.

The ArchitectureAP Symposium will explore the pivotal role architects have in shaping the culture and economy of the region. Speakers include:

  • Shigeru Ban (Shigeru Ban Architects, Japan)
  • Stephen Collier (Stephen Collier Architects, Australia)
  • John Denton (Denton Corker Marshall, Australia)
  • Abbie Galvin (BVN Architecture, Australia)
  • Savinee Buranasilapin and Tom Dannecker (thingsmatter, Thailand)
  • Sojung Lee and Sangjoon Kwak (OBBA, Korea)
  • Wenhui Lim (Spark Architects, Singapore)
  • Milinda Pathiraja (Robust Architecture Workshop, Sri Lanka)
  • Katherine Skipper (Warren and Mahoney, New Zealand)

Other Asia Pacific Architecture Forum highlights include a Design Minds workshop, a free Little Designers architecture workshop, the University of Queensland Architecture Lecture Series and a Pecha Kucha night. The full program of events will be announced in the coming months.
