Roger Walker, the 2016 recipient of the New Zealand Institute of Architects’ Gold Medal, is to give a series of free public presentations at venues throughout the country.

The lectures are made possible through the generous ongoing support of Aon New Zealand, the sponsor of the Gold Medal Tour.

Roger was awarded the Gold Medal – the Institute of Architects’ premier individual honour – for an outstanding body of work over the course of a long and singular career. He was one of a generation of architects who came of age in the ’60s and ’70s in Wellington when the Capital was the site of New Zealand’s most vibrant architectural scene.

In acknowledging Roger’s significance, the New Zealand Institute of Architects praised “the wildly inventive architecture of a determinedly free spirit”.

The Institute of Architects has published a book to mark Roger Walker’s receipt of the Gold Medal and copies of the book will be on sale at Roger’s lectures.
