Rameka Alexander-Tu’inukuafe is an Architectural Associate & Studio Lead for TOA Architects in Waiariki - Bay of Plenty. He is of Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Rēhia, Ngāi Tāwake ki te Tuawhenua, Tongan, and Pākeha descent. Growing up in rural Te Tai Tokerau - Northland and attending Kohanga Reo, Kura Kaupapa Māori and Wharekura has significantly influenced his perspective as a Māori designer and architect. He has graduated with a Bachelor of Design (Spatial) from Te Wānanga Aronui o Tāmaki Makau Rau – AUT, as well as a Bachelor of Architectural Studies (BAS) and Masters in Architecture (Professional) (MArch Prof) from Waipapa Taumata Rau - University of Auckland. After starting his career in 2010, Rameka has gained significant experience across a wide range of sectors and design disciplines (architecture, urban design, landscape, spatial design) and has a passion for kaupapa Māori projects within the education, civic and community, interiors, residential and commercial sectors. Since 2022, recent achievements include being a current member of the Tauranga Urban Design Panel, being a Spatial Judge at the Best Awards and receiving the prestigious Young Achiever of the Year and the overall Supreme Excellence Award for the Central Property Awards.
