2014 Australian Interior Design Awards
The 2014 Australian Interior Design Awards were announced on Friday 16 May, at the Hilton Sydney Ballroom, where hundreds of interior designers and architects gathered for the celebration dinner. The awards have been recognizing excellence in Australian interior design innovation for eleven years.
This year, Loft Apartment in West Melbourne by Adrian Amore Architects received the Premier Award for Interior Design Excellence and Innovation, as well as the Residential Design award. The jury noted the project was distinguished by its fresh interpretation, commenting: “The spatial planning within the apartment reveals a skilful hand that expertly creates and explores volume, plasticity and light, culminating in an interior that is invigorating, sumptuous and liveable.”
On this year’s jury were: Susanna Bilardo (Enoki, SA), Matthew Blain (Hassell, NSW), Hamish Guthrie (Hecker Guthrie, Vic), Victoria Judge (Smart Design Studio, NSW), Paul Kelly (Paul Kelly Design, NSW), Geraldine Maher (Jackson Architecture, Vic), Ryan Russell (Russell & George, Vic), and Christina Waterson (Christina Waterson Studio, Qld). The jury is supported by John Gertsakis of Infoactive (Vic) as sustainability advisor, and Joanne Cys (FDIA), associate professor in interior architecture at the University of South Australia, as jury convenor.
