Eat Drink Design Awards: 2014 winners revealed
The 2014 Eat Drink Design Awards were announced at a cocktail party on 18 November 2014 at Melbourne’s Ormond Hall, where Australia and New Zealand’s design elite and their clients gathered to celebrate the best in hospitality design. From a shortlist of sixty-eight projects, six projects were awarded best design in their categories, and twenty-one received high commendations.
The quality and record number of entries (more than 150 entries over six categories) in this year’s awards is testament to the design excellence and innovation being applied to the Australian and New Zealand hospitality industries. The 2014 jury noted in its awards overview that the projects incorporated all parts of the venue – “the history of the business and the site, the menu, the owners, the visual identity.” This “results in businesses that are multi-layered, interesting to spend time in and highly functional … Australasian hospitality design is in fine shape. It’s good to be able to celebrate its success.”
