The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design has announced the winners of its International Architecture Awards for 2014. Over 110 projects were awarded this year, with works spanning architecture, landscape architecture, and urban planning projects from across thirty-six nations.

Three projects from Australia and New Zealand received awards this year, including 387 Tamaki Drive, Auckland, New Zealand by Ian Moore Architects (2012), Sydney Cruise Terminal, Sydney, Australia (2013) by Johnson Pilton Walker Architects and PT Resolution Bridge, Auckland, New Zealand (2012) by Warren and Mahoney.

Even Antarctica managed to secure a spot in the line-up this year, with the Halley VI Antarctic Research Station (2013) by Hugh Broughton Architects and AECOM drawing an award.

The International Architecture Awards program honors projects that promote best practice in all types of real estate development for the private and public sectors. Jury members this year included Joseph Tanney (Resolution: 4 Architecture), David Jay Weiner (David Jay Weiner, Architects, PC), Rona Easton, RA, ARB (Easton+Combs), Bruce Fowle (FXFowle Architects), Hugh Hardy (H3 Hardy Collaboration), Joel Sanders (Joel Sanders Architect), Michael Gabellini (Bagellini Sheppard Associates, LLP), and Steven Goldberg (Mitchell/Giurgola Architects, LLP).

An exhibition of the winning projects will be premiered at the Istanbul Design Biennial, opening October 10 and continuing through October 25, 2014. After Istanbul, the exhibition is scheduled to travel in Europe, opening at The European Centre’s Contemporary Space Athens in Athens, Greece in 2015. The Exhibition makes a debut in the United States at the Chicago Architecture Biennial, September 21-October 13, 2015.
