Conectabal® commercial balustrades by Moddex
Partner content: When it comes to mitigating or eliminating falling risk, you need balustrades you can rely on. Moddex Conectabal commercial balustrades offer a high load rating that meets or exceeds New Zealand and Australian safety standards.
Like all Moddex products, Conectabal® commercial balustrades are pre-fabricated. This means they arrive on site ready to install with simple tools – no hot works permits or site shutdowns needed – and they’re easy to store on site until you’re ready to go.
What’s more, because Conectabal® systems are pre-engineered, they integrate easily with Moddex’s Tuffrail® and Assistrail® ranges. And they come in nine configurations — including the popular Wave — to suit any commercial building style or standard.
Other features of Conectabal® include:
- Balusters at 100mm intervals to meet or exceed New Zealand standards
- Kerbrail configuration for added safety
- Crowd loadings up to C5 classification on request
Case Study 1
Skyline Queenstown
A tourist attraction that has served visitors in Queenstown for more than 50 years, Skyline Queenstown was due for a major upgrade to its gondola system. A new terminal building, a new machine hall and a five-level carpark building with close to 400 parking spaces were all being constructed at the same time, which meant challenging logistics and a greater need for efficiency on site.
Moddex Conectabal® commercial balustrades were chosen for the carpark building. This presented some unique challenges, such as Skyline Queenstown’s extra seismic requirements. Fortunately, the Conectabal pre-engineered design allowed the integration of seismic sliding joints.
In addition, significant space constraints would have made traditional welding difficult but Moddex’s pre-fabricated flat-pack made delivery, storage and installation easy.
Case Study 2
Ramada Newmarket
This $22-million, 63-room hotel in Auckland formed part of a $100-million mixed-use development, featuring hotel units, studio units, bedroom apartments and a purpose-built meeting space.
Moddex was selected to supply and install the handrails and balustrades for Ramada Newmarket based on reputation: the hotel was being developed by Safari Group, which had worked with Moddex on a number of projects in the past.
Moddex’s comprehensive end-to-end service streamlined every step of the process, from conception to installation, ensuring the client received exactly what they wanted, on time and on budget.
The hotel was a new development in an up-market area of the city so, as well as being safe and compliant, the handrails and balustrades also needed to look great. Moddex’s balustrades fit the industrial aesthetic perfectly, and the pre-engineered nature of Conectabal made it easy to adjust things on the fly — no on-site cutting, power supply issues, obstructive welding tools or time-delaying site shutdowns.
