Auckland Art Gallery announces Denmark Design exhibition
As announcements go, the Auckland Art Gallery’s most recent is brimful of appeal: October will see the opening of a new exhibition, titled Denmark Design.
Charting the development of Danish design from the 19th century to present day, the exhibition, curated by Designmuseum Denmark and Michael & Mariko Whiteway, will feature more than 200 objects spanning furniture, graphic design, jewellery and beyond (think Arne Jacobsen’s Egg chair, Poul Henningson’s PH Artichoke light fixture and the Lego brick).
“Denmark Design will showcase the groundbreaking creativity and enduring appeal of Danish design,” says the gallery’s director, Kirsten Paisley. “These objects are renowned across the world as timeless in their ingenuity and international resonance.”
Denmark Design will run from 25 October 2019 to 2 February 2020. In the lead up to its opening, Urbis will be running a digital series on Danish design. Follow along with all the articles on urbismagazine.com.
