Entries are now open for the annual Eat-Drink-Design Awards. The awards celebrate the best hospitality design from Australia and New Zealand, and acknowledges the unique collaborations between client and designer that make for great social venues.

In 2012, the inaugural program attracted 157 entries across the six categories: Best Bar Design; Best Restaurant Design; Best Cafe Design; Best Temporary Design; Best Retail Design; Best Visual Identity Design. A special award – The Hall of Fame – went to Jimmy Watson’s Wine Bar, Melbourne, designed in 1962 by Robin Boyd and Frederick Romberg. This award recognizes an enduring establishment of time-honoured appeal and community standing.

Projects must be for individual eating and drinking spaces, or their related visual identities, and must have been completed between 1 July 2011 and 30 June 2013, (and not entered last year).

2013 jury: Domenic Alvaro, Rachel Hurst, John Birmingham, Christine Manfield and Cameron Bruhn.

On the 2013 expert jury panel are: Domenic Alvaro (architect and principal of Woods Bagot), Rachel Hurst (architectural writer and critic), John Birmingham (author, journalist and food critic for Qantas: The Australian Way and The Good Food Guide), Christine Manfield (chef and restaurateur) and Cameron Bruhn (editorial director at Architecture Media).

Each category winner will receive $1,500. The presentation party will be held in October 2013. The venue, for now, is a closely guarded secret, but watch this space for updates.

Enter by 26 July 2013. See eligibility conditions.
