2015 Emerging Design Professional Award winner
Meg Rowntree of Jasmax took home the Emerging Design Professional Award in an intensely contested category at the 2015 Interior Awards.
Along with a bespoke trophy, a $1, 500 cash prize was also presented to Rowntree at the awards and networking evening that took place on 17 June at St-Matthew-in-the-city, Auckland.
Working with the interior design team at the Jasmax office in Auckland, Rowntree has brought her personal touch to a variety of projects including Air New Zealand Koru lounge, MediaWorks, Lane Neave Law Firm, BNZ Harbour Quays and Smales Farm.
The judges lauded Rowntree’s sense of clarity and energy, and her ability to show leadership as well as collaboration in her projects. An enthusiastic young designer, she acknowledges an interest in property and workplace design with the end user experience in mind, stating “my own attraction to interior design stems from an interest in people and how they interact with the spaces they inhabit.”
Jury Citation:
Rowntree lists some clear themes as underpinning her practice: “designing user experiences, humanism, materiality, craft of making and process”. With such a design mantra, she imbues a diverse range of projects with a sense of clarity and levelheadedness. She has brought a very recognisable touch to some airport lounges, the studios of a leading media organisation, hospitality spots and more. Rowntree is an energetic young designer who, in addition to the necessary design vision, brings a strong sense of leadership and collaboration to her projects.
