Housing Summit 2024
The New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC) Housing Summit will take place on Wednesday 22 May in Auckland. The programme of speakers and case studies is focused on industry developments, including ESG, build-to-rent, and creating thriving communities that embrace the principles of te ao Māori, nature and biodiversity.
According to the NZGBC, the homes New Zealand builds are creating over five times too much pollution for us to hit 2030 climate targets. The Housing Summit conference poses the question: How can we address this major challenge, while also dealing with the ongoing issues of supply, affordability, supply chain surety, and innovation?
Speakers will address the cost of housing versus the cost of living — supply, productivity, jobs, health, wellbeing and climate impact — currently the biggest challenge for the housing sector.
This year’s programme includes;
- low-carbon housing delivered
- baking environmental, social and governance into build-to-rent
- the opportunities and challenges in driving for a low-carbon building code
- world-leading international and New Zealand case studies, including 10 Homestar (v5) homes,
- thriving communities embracing the principles of te ao Māori, nature and biodiversity.
