Ignite Architects has recently appointed Patrick Maguire as an associate to the practice’s Special Projects team in Auckland, where he will specialise in both the aviation and aged care sectors.

Patrick was formerly based at Warren and Mahoney in Wellington and brings strong experience in aviation design to his new role, having worked on award-winning redevelopments at Wellington International Airport and at Queenstown Airport. 

After graduating from Victoria University, Patrick headed to Ireland to launch his career at Oppermann Architects, before moving back to Wellington in 2010.

Since then he’s been involved in various projects including the Taita Sports and Community Centre (Walter Nash Stadium), awarded the NZIA Wellington Local Award for Public Architecture and a NZ Commercial Architecture Award, Christchurch’s Justice Precinct and the Suter Art Gallery in Nelson.

He is enthusiastic about relocating to Auckland and taking the lead on major new projects at Ignite. “Being part of a growing firm that’s not only got a great reputation and history, but which has such a strong culture of innovation, is tremendously exciting. I’m really looking forward to bringing my insights and skills and making a significant contribution to Ignite’s success in future,” Patrick says.
