This year is Resene’s 13th year of partnership with the Interior Awards, having come on board at the outset as a founding sponsor. Karmen Hoare, Resene’s Auckland Architectural Manager, talks to us about her interest in the future of AI.

Tell us about any recent innovations in your business (new products, practices, systems) that you would like interior designers and architects to know about.

Karmen Hoare (KH): We have recently added Resene Cedar Natural Wood Oil to our stain collection. The standout feature of Cedar Natural Wood Oil — though not the only advantage — is that it can be used for both interior and exterior application, allowing for seamless coating of wraparound entry spaces, timber ceilings and soffits, using the same product and colour throughout and ensuring the natural woodgrain can show through.

What do you most enjoy about being involved with the Interior Awards?

KH: What is there not to enjoy about the Interior Awards?! The calibre of the entries is always outstanding and the way they celebrate these achievements in style adds to the excitement.

What are you looking forward to this year?

KH: This year, I’m interested to see where the discussion around AI takes us. There has been plenty of chat around the integration of AI in the design and construction industry and I anticipate seeing more innovative applications emerge.
