New leadership at Marchese Partners | Life3A NZ
In a significant development at Marchese Partners | Life3A, Enrique Blanco de Córdova and Peter Wynyard are to complete a two year tenure as the leaders of the Sydney-based firm's Aotearoa practice, established in New Zealand for almost a decade now. The duo brings together international and local expertise, providing a robust leadership to steer the firm's trajectory in Aotearoa.
Enrique Blanco de Córdova, educated in Europe, has spent nearly a decade with the international practice, lending his experience and commitment to next-generation lifestyle solutions to the Aotearoa team.
“As designers, we need to rethink the role of architecture and use it as an instrument to create relationships that matter and places for people to thrive in.” When it comes to the current status of the industry in New Zealand, Blanco de Córdova states: “The future challenges facing Aotearoa as the population is ageing rapidly, need a response not only from the industry but from government policies. Challenges include how to pay for pensions and health care and affordability and now the downsizers generation is coming to an end, we help our clients to find alternatives based on broader experience across other countries.”
Partnering him at the helm is Peter Wynyard who is of Nga Puhi descent and has over 30 years of experience working within a local context in New Zealand with his own architectural practice. At the core of his designs is a commitment to embedding kaupapa Māori and tikanga Māori into his work, ensuring that the practice’s architectural solutions acknowledge and resonate deeply with the cultural essence of place and time within Aotearoa.
Wynward says: “Our vision for Aotearoa New Zealand is to blend our international experience with a local focus to the table and work with our clients to understand future trends in the market and future-proof their projects.”
The international firm’s recent projects, such as Akoya, Caroline Bay in Australia, and The Sterling in Christchurch, New Zealand, demonstrate their expertise in crafting unique residential and retirement communities. Under their new leadership, the team aims to build on this success, leveraging their combined experience and cultural understanding to design next-generation lifestyle solutions.
In addition, Marchese Partners Life3A Aotearoa is gearing up to take significant strides towards sustainable living. The international practice recently delivered Australia’s first 6 Green Star community for retirees, underscoring their commitment to the environment. It is through this sustainable thinking that the firm plans to increase its commitment to collaborative partnerships with local marae and iwi-lead projects for better design outcomes for the environment.
