New president-elect for the NZIA
Judith Taylor FNZIA set to take over from the current president of Te Kāhaui Whaihanga New Zealand Institute of Architects, Judi Keith-Brown, in 2022.
Currently an associate of professional development at Auckland firm Context Architects, Taylor says, “I’m honoured by this nomination and by the opportunity to serve the architecture community as Te Kāhui Whaihanga president-elect.”
She continues, “I look forward to working with my peers and colleagues to advance our professions here in New Zealand.”
Already a fellow of the NZIA, Taylor has also served as chairperson of the organisation’s Wellington branch during her decades of experience in the world of architecture. Along with this, she has sat on the Architects Education and Registration Board, which is now the New Zealand Registered Architects Board, and has been an assessor for the Board.
Prior to her employment by Context Architects, Taylor worked for the Parliamentary Services in Wellington, first as building projects manager, then as group manager for Precinct Services. At Context Architects, her associate role saw her work to improve the way that the firm delivered services to clients, gaining skills for her new job as president of the NZIA.
“We are thrilled to welcome Judith as president-elect,” says NZIA Chief Executive Teena Hale Pennington. “Judith has been a leader in the architectural community for a long time, particularly in the areas of education, architect registration and continuing professional development of registered architects, which are so key for our profession. I look forward to working alongside her as president-elect and president.”
Taylor commenced her role as president-elect of NZIA on May 17th, 2021, and will take up the position of president in 2022, after the sitting president Judi Keith-Brown completes her term. As president, Taylor’s tenure will last two years.
