NZIOB and BIMinNZ present DigiComNZ2023
On March 23, the 'Building our Digital Community Conference 2023' will take place at Te Papa museum in Wellington. It presents an opportunity for those interested in digital construction technologies to get together and talk about the future of the building industry.
The conference aims to provide inspiring and relevant examples of where digital community building sits within the project environment.
CEO of the Institute of Building, Pamela Bell says: “Digital engineering, Building Information Management (BIM) and digital twins are all critical ways forward to improve productivity in the construction industry. As we all cope with increasing complexity on all our projects, we need to build a better digital community from inception through to asset management.”
The broad digital community theme is underpinned by a strong focus on refreshing international insights as well as exploring new tech used in local construction projects. The speakers are themselves the clients, contractors and consultants who designed and delivered them.
The common thread amongst these projects is the use of digital tools and techniques including building information modelling or BIM, plus other construction technologies that deliver more productive processes and better-built outcomes.
As well as looking at examples from the past, there will be a focus on the future of digital technologies and where this could be headed. The future possibilities of digital tools will be explored through a number of perspectives including global insights, sustainability, and our indigenous communities.
The one-day conference will be hosted by Petra Bagust with keynote speaker and international digital expert Amy Marks kicking off the conversation and local futurist Melissa Clark-Reynolds, ONZM, tying together the discussion at the end of the day.
Amy Marks is the Vice-President of Industrialized Construction at Autodesk in the US. She’s known around the world as the ‘Queen of Prefab’ and through her work in this area has defined the language, process, and frameworks that are adopted by companies and organisations worldwide.
Pamela Bell is excited to see Amy in action: “Amy Marks is a true global force of digitally-led innovation. Her live presentation will be engaging, entertaining and likely interactive — as well as incredibly useful for us to benchmark how NZ is progressing in the digital arena!”
Alongside her day job, speaking commitments and future shaping work, Amy also stars in her own TV show on the Construction Channel in the US. The show is appropriately titled Queen of Prefab and follows Amy as she works with companies to see how are employing industrialized construction techniques in their work.
Alongside an array of fantastic speakers, the conference will also be a chance for a wide range of digital users to meet, discuss and engage with each other and some of the world’s most dazzling digital innovators.
