Regenerative Dialogue: Justice + Equity - Restructuring Life in our Cities
Julian Agyeman is a Professor of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning at Tufts University, USA visiting Aotearoa. He is the originator of the influential concept of just sustainabilities, which explores the intersecting goals of social justice and environmental sustainability.
To commence the session, Julian will share his belief, that cities can become sustainable, smart, sharing and resilient and how who is allowed to belong in them (recognition of difference, diversity, and a right to the city) are fundamentally and inextricably interlinked.
His message is that we must therefore act on both belonging and becoming, together, using just sustainabilities as the anchor, or face deepening spatial and social inequities and inequalities.
Following Professor Agymen’s talk, attendees will breakout and reflect on his ideas and connect to the value of this thinking to influence our urban development impacts in Tāmaki and Aotearoa.
