For the first time ever, Urbis is proud to be a sponsor of the 2014 ECC New Zealand Student Craft/Design Awards, hosted by Friends of The Dowse Art Museum this winter.
The Awards has been an annual event for students around New Zealand for more than 25 years and offers support to tertiary students through an awards scheme that encourages innovation in contemporary craft and design.
Urbis editor Kirsten Matthew will be one of four judges, alongside director of The Dowse Art Museum Courtney Johnston, Fiona Campbell of the Real Art Roadshow, Richard Crane of ECC and co-director of Design Tree, Tim Wigmore.
This year the Supreme winner, the runner-up and the People’s Choice winner will all have the opportunity to display their entries at The Dowse in Lower Hutt and at Urbis Designday in Auckland in March 2015. Winning entries will also be on display at ECC’s Wellington showroom.
Entries are now open in the fields of furniture, product and lighting design, jewellery, glasswork, textile and craft. They close on Sunday 3 August. An awards ceremony will take place at The Dowse Art Museum on 29 August.
