Students shine at 2012 Cavalier Bremworth AAA Unbuilt Architecture Awards
A residential home known as the dogbox, a military museum and an underground lavatory shared top honours at the 21st 2012 Cavalier Bremworth AAA Unbuilt Architecture Awards held in Auckland at St Paul St Gallery on 15 November.
University of Auckland student Sacha Milojevic won $3000 and the trophy for best student project with his proposal for a military museum rooted in gun emplacement excavations.
The Open Conceptual section with a prize of $5000 and trophy was won by design trio Nick Roberts, Henry Stephens and Jasen Aui for their Awaroa lighthouse proposal.
The winner in the Open Work-in-Progress section was Patch Work Architecture for Kiwi Eames House and also received a $5000 cheque and trophy.
The 2012 judging panel comprised local architect Jack McKinney, University of Auckland architecture lecturer Bill McKay and guest international judge Tim Greer, from Sydney-based practice Tonkin Zulaikha Greer.
