Twenty New Zealand projects shortlisted for World Architecture Festival 2019
The 2019 World Architecture Festival (WAF) has announced their shortlist for this year’s awards, including 534 projects from 70 countries. New Zealand has once again shown up strong with 20 projects named as finalists in 14 categories.
Warren and Mahoney, Monk Mackenzie, Jasmax, LandLAB and RTA Studio return to the shortlist this year for the second year in a row; they are joined by a few fresh faces, including Atelier Aitken Architecture and Peddle Thorp and Ignite.
“As New Zealanders, we are outward looking and always seeking new creative possibilities, and WAF gives us the opportunity to take our designs to the world,” says Warren and Mahoney managing director John Coop.
WAF reported that 1,000 entries were made to this year’s awards programme – an all-time high. The Festival takes place from 4 to 6 December in Amsterdam. Category winners will be announced in November and will be in the running to win the World Building of the Year and Future Project of the Year awards.
