Wingates announces two new principals in Tauranga and Hamilton
Wingates has appointed two new Principals, strengthening its presence in both the Bay of Plenty and Waikato regions.
Colette McCartney joins the practice as Principal and Interior Architect, based in Tauranga. With more than 26 years’ experience across New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom, McCartney has led civic, commercial and justice projects, including the Tauranga Moana District Court with Puna Toi, Aonui (Otago Regional Council headquarters) with Kāi Tahu and Aukaha, and the Whangārei Māori Land Court with Te Tai Tokerau. She affiliates to Ngāti Paoa and Waiti Marae in Tahuna, and is active in the wider industry as a board member of the Designers Institute of New Zealand and on MBIE’s Engineering Associates Registration Board.
McCartney said: “I am thrilled to be joining the talented team at Wingates in my hometown of Tauranga. I’m looking forward to collaborating on projects that make a real contribution across the Bay of Plenty.”
Sally Holdgate also joins Wingates as Principal, based in Hamilton. Holdgate has nearly two decades of professional experience and previously ran her own practice in the city. Her portfolio includes residential, multi-residential, commercial, and education projects, such as the University of Waikato Student Accommodation in Tauranga, a retirement village in Matamata, and new facilities at St Paul’s Collegiate School’s Tihoi Venture School.
Holdgate said: “With nearly two decades of experience and a deep love for this region, I’m excited to keep contributing to a city filled with passionate, talented people. I care about my clients, who I’m proud to bring with me on this next chapter, and I take time to build strong, trusted relationships.”
Managing Director David Wingate said “the appointments reflect the practice’s commitment to growing its interiors capability in Tauranga Moana and expanding its base in the Waikato, supported by its Auckland studio”.
