Architecture+Women•NZ events
As part of Auckland Architecture Week, Architecture+Women•NZ are running three diverse events, all taking part on Saturday 26 September at Te Iringa Room, Sir Paul Reeves Building, AUT in Auckland.
The first event is He Wai: A Song? In the spirit of manaakitanga (hospitality), this event combines the joy of singing waiata (songs) along with some understanding of tikanga (protocol) in relation to powhiri (welcoming.) Bring the whole office for a cup of tea and some harmonies. Runs from 10am-12pm, free event.
The second event will be Wiki Lounge: Women, Wikipedia, Design. Currently female architects world-wide are under-represented on Wikipedia. As a popular and regular go-to resource for the general public, it stands to reason that including more women in Wikipedia will increase awareness of the expanding role they play in shaping our built environment.
Architecture+Women•NZ has started to conduct interviews with women of varying backgrounds, modes of practice and experiences who are currently working in the field of architecture. These interviews will be used to form the basis of future Wikipedia entries and are part of A+W wider intentions to research and document the pursuits of past and present females within the industry. Come along and be a part of the wider discussion. Runs from 2-4pm, and is a free event.
Finally, the third event is Speed Mentoring. Women and men alike are invited to a night of professional conversation. This event offers the opportunity for those in the architecture profession, and those who are soon to join, to get together for a night of mutual mentorship. Structured like a speed-dating event, the evening will be a fast paced mentoring session in the format of short and concise conversations - accompanied by wine and nibbles. Runs from 5-6.30pm. This event is $15.00.
These events can all be booked through the Auckland Architecture Week website.
