Carolina Izzo Studio Talk
Are there criteria and measurements for harmony? Can Fibonacci help us?
For Carolina Izzo’s first Studio Talk for 2016, Johan E.G. Silén will presnt a talk on the concept of harmony and beauty. There are patterns all around us in nature, and some of these patterns create a bias to regard natural patterns as beautiful.
Fibonacci (aka Leonardo Pisano Bigollo 1200 AC) was able to formalise some of these patterns. Now we have the Fibonacci sequence, the Golden or Fibonacci Spiral, and the Golden Ratio. The Studio Talk will take a closer look at these and some stranger applications like the Fibonacci Clock and the Fibonacci Ruler.
Johan is a retired, Scandinavian snowbird, a mathemagician and an adventurer. He has sailed in the Malacca Straits, crossed the Atlantic, lived in the Caribbean, visited latitude 80 both S and N. He has been a paraglider, has worked as a taxi-driver, and completed single-handed ocean sailings. At present Johan is involved with Math/Biomath at the University of Helsinki and is a member of The International Brotherhood of Magicians.
The talk will run from 5.30 – 7.30pm. Drinks and nibbles provided.
Space is limited, so RSVP here.
