FFWD016: Kathy Waghorn
The University of Auckland School of Architecture and Planning’s annual guest lecture series, Fast Forward, aims to foster debate, discussion and development within the disciplines of architecture, urban planning and urban design. There will be six events taking place from July to October 2016.

Kathy Waghorn is associate director, Design (Architecture) in the School of Architecture and Planning at the University of Auckland. With a background in both visual arts and architecture, Kathy delivers multi-disciplinary projects in exhibition, publication and event-based formats. Her research practice draws on the intersection of local knowledge and disciplinary expertise for the design and activation of public space.
Kathy is associate creative director of the New Zealand Pavilion at the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale, and editor of the exhibition catalogue. Future Islands, the New Zealand pavilion at the 15th Venice Architecture Biennale, opened in May 2016 with great aplomb. In this lecture, Kathy discusses the pavilion and the ideas that informed it, as well as her experience of the Venice Biennale more generally.
All lectures start at 6.30pm, are free and open to the public.
