Jacob van Rijs’ Architectural Inspirations seminar
Internationally acclaimed Dutch architect, lecturer and urbanist Jacob van Rijs will be giving a free seminar in Auckland and Christchurch in July, courtesy of the Metro Performance Glass team.
Jacob is one of the founders of Rotterdam based architecture and urban planning firm MVRDV, which is responsible for the Rotterdam Markthal, which features the largest glass façade in the world.
Jacob van Rijs is currently Visiting Professor at the Technical Universities of Delft and Munich. He has taught at the University of Wismar, Etsam University Madrid, Royal Academy of Arts Copenhagen, Tokyo Institute of Technology and Rice University, Houston, among others.
Since 2011, Jacob has been Chairman of the international program Royal Institute of Dutch Architects’ and in 2014 he was appointed Board Member of the Dutch Trade Board.
Jacob van Rijs set up MVRDV together with Winy Maas and Nathalie de Vries in 1991. The work of MVRDV and Jacob van Rijs is published and exhibited worldwide and has received many international awards.
Early projects such as the headquarters for the Public broadcasting company VPro and the WoZoco housing for elderly in Amsterdam both in the Netherlands, have brought Jacob van Rijs international acclaim and established MVRDV’s leading role in international architecture.

Jacob will be presenting on his work in architecture and urban planning at the Auckland and Christchurch seminars.
