Scala Seminar Series: (Non) Linear - Infrastructure and Episode
Unitec Scala Seminar Series is back for term 4 and this event will take place on Thursday 1 October from 12.30 - 1.30pm. Henry Crothers, landscape architect/urban design at LandLAB in Auckland, will present a talk titled (Non) Linear - Infrastructure and Episode.
“Linear strips of space are overlooked, underappreciated, and marginalised. Chunks are thought to be the best commissions” - Ken Smith
Rather than the divisive rifts, strips and edges defined by Forman et. al., linear spaces in the urban fabric provide opportunities to stitch together the hard and soft infrastructure of the city, networks of movement and new programming sequences.
Henry will discuss recent public realm projects which respond to the challenges and opportunities of a linear landscape condition.
This is a free, public seminar. NZILA CPD 0.5 points available, as well as NZRAB CPD 10 points and work experience points available for attending BLA students.
