Resene in association with ArchitectureNow are bringing Dr Zena O’Connor to New Zealand for this seminar series titled Colour in Architecture and Design: Beyond aesthetics. An independent research consultant, Dr Zena O’Connor holds a PhD from the University of Sydney, a Master’s Degree in Design (University of Technology, Sydney) and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Technology, Sydney.

A trained designer, Zena has worked with a wide range of organisations in the commercial, government and academic sectors and delivers evidence-based insight and research reports and seminars relating to colour in applied design and the built environment, colour psychology, colour in logo design and branding, visual literacy and colour mapping studies.

Zena is an individual member of the AIC (International Colour Association); Colour Society of Australia and the Environmental Design Research Association.

Auckland 

Seminar 1:

When: Tuesday 23 February
Time: 3.30pm – 5.30pm
Where: AAG Auditorium, Auckland Art Gallery, corner Kitchener and Wellesley Streets, Auckland CBD.

This two hour seminar will focus on effective interior colour strategies including colour and visual literacy strategies to improve traffic flow, way-finding, environmental legibility, achieve appropriate ambience (‘calm’, ‘exciting’, etc) with congruent colours - retail, commercial, institutional and professional interiors.

Seminar 2:

When: Friday 26 February
Time: 9am – 11am
Where: AAG Auditorium, Auckland Art Gallery, corner Kitchener and Wellesley Streets, Auckland CBD.

The second Auckland seminar will focus on façade colour solutions for apartment and commercial buildings, colour solutions that meet local council and heritage requirements, and achieve visual amenity and scenic congruity.
