Gary Rake

Mr Gary Rake was appointed full time Chief Executive of the Australian Government National Capital Authority from 1 May 2009 for a term of five years. Mr Rake is a Canberra-born economist and accountant with extensive experience in corporate management. He has held senior management positions in public service and private sector organisations, with responsibilities including financial and human resource management, emergency management, consumer law regualtion, criminal and civil investigations, marketing and internal audit. Prior to his appointment as full time Chief Executive, Mr Rake was the Chief Financial Officer of the NCA and led the Authority’s asset management team. From December 2008 to April 2009 Mr Rake was also the Acting Chief Executive. From 2000 to 2005 Mr Rake was a senior officer in the ACT Government, including time as Business Manager and Chief Financial Officer of ACT Forests during the period immediately before and after the January 2003 bushfires. Mr Rake’s corporate and financial expertise is underpinned by a strong community and stakeholder focus. He is passionate about the importance of citizens being actively engaged with their community. Mr Rake currently serves as a voluntary Board/Council member of the National Institute of Accountants ACT Division, Pegasus Foundation (Riding for the Disabled) and Greening Australia Capital Region.- Location
