Thank you for allowing me a minute of your time to introduce Bentech Bentonite - New Zealand’s only Codemark certified Bentonite Geosynthetic Clay Liner tanking membrane.
Bentech Bentonite 101- Bentonite is a naturally occurring volcanic clay mineral with unique water absorbing qualities; increasing in volume around 800% when hydrated. Geosynthetic clay liners (GCL’s) use this amazing property underground to create a confined, pressurised, waterproof barrier in buildings, ponds, subways, carparks and tunnels etc. that fixes itself. Hydration turns the otherwise chalky clay into an extremely viscous gel that migrates under significant pressure to any low pressure areas (i.e. leaks), and self-seals them with an impervious permanent ‘plug’ of clay able to withstand up to 70 metres of head pressure.
Bentech GCL tanking products are NZ’s only DBH registered tanking system and with over 3.4 million square metres installed internationally, is fast becoming New Zealand’s preferred choice in superior economic tanking technology, with some of the biggest Construction, Architectural and Engineering companies now specifying Bentech Bentonite.
Why? Four reasons;
1) Performance - The recognised International standard recommends between 5.0 and 7.0 kg’s of Sodium Bentonite per M2 of Geosynthetic membrane - Bentech GCL contains 5.5kg of granulated premium grade Sodium Bentonite clay per M2, the highest of any product available in NZ thus making it the most efficient waterproofing & tanking product available on the domestic market.
2) Cost Effectiveness - Our manufacturer is one of the largest in the world and this, coupled with their unique patented assembly technology, allows low production costs. Frankly; if you’re not specifying Bentech – you’re paying too much for an inferior product.
3) Quality Assurance - We are proud to offer a 20 year warranty on the product provided it is installed by a Bentech certified installer in accordance with our installation methodology, specifically;
i) The presentation of a smooth uniform surface free from irregularities, voids and protrusions, be that against brick, compacted rock, block retaining walls or any other solid permanent concrete or rock based surface.
ii) Preparation and sealing of the wall transition at ground level by the direct application of Bentech Cementitious Coating (BCC) to the block wall.
iii) The approved application of Bentech GCL to the block wall with hydrated Bentech Bentonite clay used to seal the 100mm overlap between the rolls.
iv) The application of a protective layer of Corflute corrugated plastic board if Gap 40 is used to backfill. (NB - use of Gap 20 backfill negates the need for the Corflute).
v) Finishing off at ground level with a galvanised capping strip to prevent any destructive debris (i.e. stones, concrete chips and/or nails etc.) from falling between the Bentech GCL and the block wall itself.
vi) Back filling with Gap 40 between the Corflute panel and the strata earthworks to be effectively compacted in layers 400 mm deep until filled.
4) Codemark - Bentech Pacific is proud to be New Zealand’s ONLY Codemark certified and DBH registered waterproofing and tanking product. The issue of this Quality Assurance Certification provides our customers with all the confidence and peace of mind that a successful peer review and investigation of all Bentech products, procedures and processes provides.
Bentech GCL is assembled using natural clay bound together between two inert Geosynthetic fabric layers. The clay comes out of the ground, is sewn between the matting and is then returned to the ground as a natural, non-leaching, inert and self-healing waterproof barrier. No toxic hydrocarbon (tar/bitumen) based paints, films and leachates; just natural clay creating what many describe as the only ‘bomb-proof’ tanking solution available.
It is a known fact that of the buildings damaged in the Christchurch earthquakes, the ones suffering the least damage underground from flooding and liquefaction were those tanked in GCL –
Tell your architect “Better make it Bentech!”
We’re very keen to organise a price through one of our certified installers for the tanking requirements of any upcoming relevant projects and feel confident you’ll be more than pleased with the result.
You can count on us to be exactly who we say we are,, straight up, matter of fact and unstoppable in providing you with what we both want – a watertight project completed on time and within budget.
