The summer issue of Landscape Architecture NZ is out now!

Landscape Architecture New Zealand, summer 2011/12.

Landscape Architecture NZ #12 has just been published. Inside you’ll find a series of stories relating to the aftermath of the Christchurch eartquakes, including alternative views on structuring earthquake recovery in Christchurch East, a look at “greening the rubble” projects – temporary public spaces that are popping up around the city, the Cashel Street cotainer mall project, and a review of the role of landscape architects in the earthquake recovery process. Ex-pat Kiwi landscape architect Jessica Staples also provides a first-hand report of the disaster relief process in Pisco, Peru, which suffered a massive eartquake back in 2007.

This issue’s projects include Garden Place, Hamilton, which was given an economical and inventive reworking by Reset Urban. We also look at Rapaki Marae in Lyttelton Harbour, by Boffa Miskell – a bright spot in an otherwise earthquake-ravaged district, and up on Auckland’s North Shore we look at the stong, yet simple, hierachy of planting that makes the Onewa Interchange, by Opus International Consultants, such an interesting project. Happpy reading.
