Studio Pacific announces that Evžen Novák will be shifting his focus from the Managing Director role to Sustainability Lead. Nick Barratt-Boyes has picked up the mantle as Managing Director, effective from 1 December 2023.

Earlier this year, Studio Pacific’s Managing Director Evžen Novák announced his intention to step down from the role on 30 November 2023. During his tenure, Evžen led significant transformations within the company, contributing to its growth and success say Studio Pacific. With a passion for sustainability, innovation, aviation, and timber technology, Evžen will continue to work within the business in a newly-created Sustainability Lead role.

“Evžen’s extraordinary leadership has guided Studio Pacific to its position as a leading architecture practice in Aotearoa New Zealand” says Dr. Helen Anderson, Chair of Studio Pacific’s Board. “During Evžen’s tenure, he has made countless contributions to Studio Pacific’s success, championing design excellence, sustainability, optimisation and a people-centric approach. Evžen has been committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the studio and amplifying co-design practices. In his new role as Sustainability Lead, Evžen will continue to serve Studio Pacific with his unique insights, creativity and inspiration.”

Studio Pacific say that the practice is indebted to Evžen for his tireless mahi and unwavering vision. He has set the bar as Managing Director.

Nick Barratt-Boyes has held a range of leadership roles since co-founding Studio Pacific in 1992 with Stephen McDougall and Evžen Novák. Studio Pacific says he brings a wealth of industry experience to the Managing Director role. A highly respected architect, urban designer, and business leader, Nick has led multi-disciplinary teams on large-scale urban regeneration projects weaving infrastructure, landscape design and architecture together.

“The Board has complete confidence that Nick is the right person to be our next Managing Director and lead the transition to future leaders,” adds Helen. “Nick’s 32 years of service to Studio Pacific have been marked by outstanding performance and he has demonstrated remarkable talent and sound judgment in everything he does. His marketing and business development acumen will be a hallmark of his term.”

In accepting this appointment, Barratt-Boyes is stepping away from some of his project roles to focus on leading Studio Pacific whilst maintaining his Independent Commissioner and Expert Witness specialisations. The announcement of his appointment reflects the company’s succession plan and confidence in his ability to steer the company towards continued success and growth in the years to come.
