We’re delighted to welcome Tile Space as a brand-new sponsor of the Interior Awards 2024. Here, Commercial Sales Representitives Jack Sun, Sarah Collins and Romar Santiago speak about the pleasure of supporting designers’ successes and its new ranges — including one New Zealand exclusive.

Tell us about any recent innovations in your business that you’d like interior designers and architects to know about.

Jack Sun: We have several innovative technical products, including a New Zealand exclusive.

WEDI is a cost- and time-effective alternative to traditional wet area systems, which can even be used in place of traditional plasterboard and liquid waterproofing membrane. We are the exclusive New Zealand stockists of this exciting product!

Our technical range of tiles, Gecko, has been designed with innovative surface technology, which allows it to go from a P2 slip-resistance rating when dry to a P4 slip-resistance rating when wet. Gecko is ideal for many commercial uses, such as lobby entrances or public bathrooms, and is fantastic for aged-care facilities.

Fabulous Italian suppliers Inkiostro Bianco and Technografica provide a unique, fully customisable waterproof wallpaper made from fibreglass, which can be installed in wet areas such as showers, spa rooms and all interior spaces. There are multiple backings to choose from to allow cohesive designs throughout your space.

Sustainability is a key focus for us moving forward. We’re proud stockists of many amazing brands from all over the world, such as LEA, Italigraniti, Atlas Concorde and Portabello, who pride themselves on sustainability practises and certifications. The evolution of design and technology allows porcelain to emulate materials such as wood, marble and other natural stones with less environmental impact.

What do you most enjoy about now being involved with the Interior Awards?

Sarah Collins: It’s a marvellous opportunity for Tile Space to be a sponsor at this year’s Interior Awards, alongside other amazing suppliers. We’re excited to see our clients’ stunning projects, which we’ve had the pleasure of assisting them with, creating beautiful spaces through different textures, shapes and colours.

What are you looking forward to this year?

Romar Santiago We’ve been seeing a lot of exciting new products coming out through our suppliers’ new collections. We pride ourselves on staying at the forefront of what is trending in Europe and abroad. Constant innovation means they are pushing the boundaries of design and application, from what tiles have previously been used for.

We’re delighted to expand on our hugely successful Japanese Collection from Academy Tiles and Nagoya Mosaics, with lots of gorgeous new colours and formats.

We have new ranges coming in constantly and are moving to a brand-new, purpose-built 9,600m2 warehouse to hold 500,000+ m2 of tiles, so this allows us to have enough stock to supply tiles from small residential bathrooms to large-scale commercial projects.
