The Royal Institute of British Architects has revealed the shortlist for this year’s Stirling Prize. Six projects, chosen from regional winners, have been selected to be in the running for the coveted prize, which recognises the building that has made the greatest contribution to British architecture in the past year.

“Every one of the six buildings shortlisted today illustrates the huge benefit that well-designed buildings can bring to people’s lives,” said RIBA president Jane Duncan.

For the first time in the history of the prize, the shortlist features two buildings coming from one client, Oxford University. 

The winner of the Stirling Prize will be announced on 6 October. 

The 2016 shortlist is:
