As we draw 2019 to a close, we’re excited to announce the jury for the 2020 Interior Awards. Now in its 10th year, the programme celebrates innovation and excellence in interior design across Aotearoa. 

This year’s judging panel is comprised of architects, urbanists and designers with experience spanning the globe. Find out more about them below and click here to see all the key dates for the 2020 Interior Awards.

Julie Stout

Architect and Urbanist – Mitchell Stout Dodd Architects

Julie is a principal of Mitchell Stout Dodd Architects in Auckland and a Professional Teaching Fellow at the School of Architecture and Planning at the University of Auckland. Her work, including the design of art galleries, schools and houses, has won many awards.

A career highlight was being part of the team chosen to curate New Zealand’s first official entry at the Venice Biennale of Architecture in 2014. She is very active in the urban design scene of the city, championing the long-term legacy and vision for Auckland’s waterfront and harbour.


 

Kate Rogan

Director – Rogan Nash Architects 

Kate is an architect and director at Rogan Nash Architects, a multi-award-winning architecture and interior practice. Its work has been widely published and broadcast. Kate has a variety of architectural experience, from office design to high-end residential.

She designed her own home, which recently won an NZIA award, and taught and regularly critiques at the University of Auckland, School of Architecture and Planning. She has been a judge at the Interior of the Year awards and the NZIA Auckland Architecture Awards. 


 

Federico Monsalve

Editor – Interior and Urbis magazines

Federico is the convenor of the Interior Awards and senior editor of Interior and Urbis magazines. He was a judge at the 2019 Inside World Festival of Interiors (part of the World Architecture Festival) in Amsterdam. His work as a writer, critic, broadcaster and film-maker has appeared widely through national and international outlets.


 


 

 

Katie Lockhart

Director – Katie Lockhart Studio

Katie is an interior designer within her own practice, which she established 12 years ago after working in Italy and London for several years. Her studio works across commercial and residential projects – both large and small – always collaborating with artisans and suppliers to create holistic spaces that support the lives lived within them.

Katie has a deep love of furniture and textiles, both new and old, and continuously seeks to support local independent dealers and makers.


 

Erini Compton

Interior Designer 

Erini is an interior designer in Auckland. She has worked at award-winning practices, including Designworks in Auckland, architecture + in Wellington and BDG architecture + design in London.

Recent works include Designworks’ studio, 66 Wyndham Street and the Holiday Inn hotel. At the heart of Erini’s passion and drive are the ways in which an environment can be transformed through considered and thoughtful design, creating a rich and memorable experience for people.
