Well-known Kiwi kitchen designer Mal Corboy recently won the supreme award of Australian KBDI Certified Kitchen Designer of the Year.

Corboy is the first and only kitchen designer to win the top awards in both Australia and New Zealand. He is also the first non-Australian to win this prestigious award.

Australian by birth, Corboy drove locomotives in  Australia before moving to New Zealand where he learned cabinetry and kitchen design. His kitchens began to win acclaim for their use of colour, light and space and he won a number of New Zealand awards including Kitchen Designer of the Year in 2002.

Corboy still lives and works in Kohimarama in Auckland.
