Inside the first issue of Houses for 2012 you will find eight fantastic houses from around New Zealand.

In this autumn issue we focus on four fine kitchens. Architects David Sheppard, Evelyn McNamara, John Mills and Simon Clarkson have designed kitchens that demonstrate the perfect matching of form with function. We also look at four great houses by matter, Mark Frazerhurst, McCoy and Wixon and Novak + Middleton, in the Coromandel, Waikato, Wanaka and the Kapati Coast.

In the books page we take a look at Kevin McLeod’s latest offering on home design. Carolyn Smith of Auckland based Architecture Smith and Scully talks about New Zealand residential architecture and her architecture practice. We also feature interviews with furniture designer Tim Laing, and architectural graduate Henri Sayes.

Also in this issue Fisher and Paykel are giving away a fantastic kitchen appliance prize package worth $4200. So don’t miss your opportunity to be in to win - subscribe here or get a copy of Houses at any good magazine retailer.

Houses features contemporary projects and interiors – with outstanding graphic design, informative reviews, excellent photography, detailed floor plans and product lists. Houses is essential reading for architecture, design and building professionals, as well as consumers, who turn to it for inspiration and product ideas. Houses is published four times a year (March, June, September and December) and is endorsed by the New Zealand Institute of Architects.
