The Timber Design Awards – recognising excellence in timber engineering and building – has been held annually since 1975 and has been hosted by NZ Wood since 2008.

In 2014, NZ Wood, in partnership with Resene, will once again be celebrating the best the country has to offer in timber design and is calling on entries to be submitted before 5pm on Friday 15 November, 2013.

“This is New Zealand’s only timber design award event and allows engineers, architects, architectural designers and builders to showcase innovation using timber,” says Paul Nicholls, chair of NZ Wood.

“With property owners needing to reassure tenants of their safety in earthquakes and minimise business disruption, modern technology in the design and application of engineered timber is compelling. Award-winning companies will be well positioned to differentiate themselves.”

For the 2014 NZ Wood Resene Timber Design Awards the Overall Supreme Award and Outdoor Infrastructure categories have been reintroduced.

Categories for 2014:

1. Residential Architectural Excellence
2. Commercial Architectural Excellence
3. Engineering Excellence
4. Exterior Innovation
5. Interior Innovation
6. Indigenous Timber Showcase Award
7. Outdoor Intrasturcture
8. MPI Overall Supreme Award – Judges Choice

Judges for the awards are Daniel Scheibmair, Timber Design Society president; David Sheppard, president of the NZIA and Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment chief architect Duncan Joiner.
