Throughout a diverse and sophisticated oeuvre of sound, sculpture, installation and drawing, Fusinato simultaneously affirms then alters the intended meaning of existing political imagery, further complicating interpretation by adding his own layers of manipulation and presentation.

In THERE IS NO AUTHORITY, at Anna Schwartz Gallery, Fusinato draws on the legacy of the Essex underground of the 1970s and 80s. The single work in this exhibition re-contextualises the vocabulary of early Anarchist Punk movements, emphasising ideas of control and choice. Based on the anarchist-pacifism of the punk group Crass, and their beginnings at the still-controversial squat Dial House, THERE IS NO AUTHORITY is a site-specific project which both encourages and questions the power of community. Fusinato’s work will occupy the gallery in a manner which recalls not only the punk movement, but also the contemporary protests which demand that power be reclaimed by and relocated in the hands of the wider society.
