Photographer Bas van Est presents a photo series showcasing the old Qatar and desolate spaces of the Doha city surrounds on Sunday 20 November, 3–7pm, at Thievery Studio, Auckland. 

Inspired by areas less accessible to visitors, he lifts the cover of the developing metropolis and delves deeper to find out what it may have looked like before large-scale development took hold.
