The Common: Shared Space in Housing (in collaboration with NZIA)

Date: Thursday 22 September
Time: 6.30–8pm
Location: Toi Tu: Studio One, Room 10, 1 Ponsonby Road, Auckland
Cost: Free

The Common: Shared Space in Housing is a panel discussion that follows from the hugely successful Artspace A+W•NZ Panel event in August 2015. Negotiating the conversation of communal housing is always undoubtedly complex, especially in times of intensification, affordability and housing supply shortage. This panel, made up of Maori and Pasifika academics, practitioners, artists and politicians, is asked whether ‘communal space’ should be included in our housing typologies, and how financial structures have a bearing on urban form.

A+W•NZ Timeline Installation (in collaboration with NZIA)

Date: 19–25 September
Time: Opening hours
Location: Silos, Wynyard Quarter
Cost: Free

Women have been consistently present in New Zealand’s architectural history, however largely absent from our documented stories. The A+W•NZ Timeline was first exhibited in the Silo 6 Gallery in our ‘Between Silos’ Exhibition in 2013, and here we re-exhibit as part of AAW 2016. The A+W•NZ Timeline was created by Marianne Calvelo, with assistance by Joy Roxas (designer) and Lynda Simmons (curator).
