The Donner House Opening

The Donner house in Titirangi was built in the late 1940s by Tibor Karl Donner, chief architect to the Auckland City Council between 1946 and 1967. It is considered to be one of the finest examples of post war modernism in the country and will be open to the public for three consecutive weekends: September 17th and 18th, 24th and 25th and October 1st and 2nd, as part of the Auckland Heritage Festival.

Present owner Paul Jenkin, who has restored Donner House to its former glory, will give a brief speech and a number of Donner’s early pre-war etchings of downtown Auckland will also be on display. Entry is $15 an adult, with children under 12 free. All proceeds go towards further restoration of the buildings and grounds.
