Sydney architects Retallack Thompson to lecture
The leaders of Sydney-based firm Retallack Thompson will kick off the winter run of the University of Auckland’s Fast Forward lecture series.
Jemima Retallack and Mitchell Thompson’s practice, formed in 2016, is likely best known in New Zealand for its 2018 Garden Wall ‘anti-pavilion’ at the National Gallery of Victoria, designed with Other Architects. However, the main body of the firm’s work is residential projects that celebrate an ‘Australian regionalism’ and have been recipients of numerous awards.
Retallack and Thompson will make their Fast Forward presentation on the evening of Thursday 23 July. They will also present a lecture in the Waikato as the evening event for the annual Jacobsen Winter Tour. Organised by the NZIA Waikato/Bay of Plenty Branch, the tour takes place on Saturday 25 July, with the lecture held at the Raglan Golf Club at 6.30pm. Keep an eye on the NZIA and University of Auckland websites for tickets to the two lectures.
Other speakers for the Fast Forward series include NZIA Gold Medallist Patrick Clifford. His lecture will mark the 40th anniversary of the founding of Architectus, the firm growing to more than 70 staff in four offices and collecting more than 100 NZIA awards along the way.
